Minority construction business owners to see increase in opportunities as local trade organizations work together

Charlotte, NC. January 15, 2018. The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) announced today that they have entered in a partnership with the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina (UMCNC), with the purpose of establishing a reciprocal membership agreement between the two organizations. Members of the each organization will now have access and receive member benefits of both organizations.

“At HCAC we are committed to enhancing our membership benefits and we are proud to partner with the UMCNC to bring together to strong organizations to create a solid voice representing minorities in construction,” said Renee Jones, President of the HCAC Board of Directors. “Year after year we survey our members to learn more about their needs. We look for solutions and are confident that this new partnership with the UMCNC will add value for both organizations’ members and create even more opportunities for unity, involvement, and progress,” she added.

HCAC has partnered with NCDOT’s Office of Civil Rights to promote additional services available to members. As a DBE certified firm in the highway construction and related industries, contractors may be eligible to receive up to $5000 in funds from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to access a number of supportive services programs administered by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Some of those FREE supportive services include: business and technical assistance, business management services, bonding and financial assistance, and membership to professional trade organizations like HCAC and UMCNC.

These are just a few of the benefits of membership of the newly formed agreement between the HCAC and UMCNC. Additional information will formally be presented at the 2018 Industry Day event at the NCSU McKimmon Center on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Please make plans to attend.
