Benjamin GonzalezThe economic crisis that exploited during the last months of 2008 had a tremendous impact over the construction industry. Benjamín González, the owner of B&G Construction suffered it and noticed that what once was a prosperous business (residential construction) was now becoming a ghost business. From thousands of new construction projects the industry went to just a few on going projects. For many Hispanic contractors the situation resulted in a drastic change; from being hired to work in a lot of new projects, they found themselves struggling to find any renovation project to offer their services.

Benjamín was one of those contractors that noticed a change in the market. However, in 2009, he saw an opportunity: he became a member of the HCAC with the main objective to take the classes and trainings offered by the institution to its members and also to have the chance to connect with General Contractors. "The economy changed the industry so now we have to take advantage of any opportunity we find. This is why I became a member of the HCAC, to take advantage of the educational opportunities and the networking events", González said.

Benjamin invited the Hispanic construction community to join HCAC. "I recommend the Hispanic contractors to join HCAC. In this institution we find several training programs plus safety trainings, all of them fundamental to perform correctly our job; however, we also need the General Contractors to give us more opportunities to work for them", Benjamín ended.
