Notice to Bidders: Qualified bidders may submit bids for project as described in this Document. Submit bids according to the Instructions to Bidders. 1. Regulatory Requirements: General Contractors are hereby notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, shall govern submittal, opening, and award of bids. B. Project Description: Project consists of a 1,340 sq. ft., 1-story addition and alterations to the 2,040 sq. ft. existing building. H. Construction Contract: Bids will be received for the following Work: 1. General Contract (all trades). 1.2 BID SUBMITTAL AND OPENING A. Owner will receive sealed lump sum bids until the bid time and date at the location given below. Owner will consider bids prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders issued by Owner, and delivered as follows: 1. Bid Date: April 9, 2020. 2. Bid Time: 2:30 p.m., local time. 3. Location: McDowell County Board of Commissioners Board Room, 60 East Court Street, Marion, North Carolina 28752. B. Bids will be thereafter publicly opened and read aloud. 1.3 BID SECURITY A. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn before July 8, 2020. Prebid Meeting: A Prebid meeting for all bidders will be held on March 24, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the location noted above. Prospective prime bidders are requested to attend. 1. The meeting will address project scope, bidding procedures, and forms, including MBE requirements. 2. Contractors will have an opportunity to walk through the existing building after the Prebid Meeting. a. Existing building is located at 2945 US 221 North, Marion, NC 28752. 1.5 DOCUMENTS A. Printed Procurement and Contracting Documents: Documents can be obtained after March 9, 2020. 1.
