The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas is proud to announce that Messer Construction and the NCIMED joined the HCAC Board of Directors.  Both institutions are eager to support the development of the Hispanic construction community in the Carolinas.

Messer Construction, a General Contractor founded 80 years ago in Cincinnati, OH, landed in Charlotte in 2011 and since then began approaching organizations with the objective of empowering minority contractors.

The NCIMED (North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development) is a statewide nonprofit with a mission to build the asset base of underdeveloped populations. To accomplish the mission, “The Institute” implements economic development strategies that build businesses, create jobs, and sustain institutions vital to economically vibrant and socially responsible communities.

At the HCAC Board of Directors, Messer will be represented by Tony Stamper, Project Executive who has been serving on the HCAC Education Committee for the past year. The Education Committee is the group in the HCAC responsible to design the organization’s annual educational programs and review the proposed courses proposed to ensure they are aligned with the HCAC philosophy to provide educational content that supports the community we serve. In turn, the NCIMED will be represented by Ms. Andrea Harris, the President of this prestigious institution and a leader and minority advocate, who has been assisting HCAC to develop programs that positively impact the Hispanic construction community.

“Messer Construction and HCAC have been building a solid relationship that focuses on the corporate development of small construction business in the Carolinas. Since Messer joined our organization, they have made themselves available to assist our members in any way they can. It is very exciting to see new general contractors involved with the HCAC to support the professional growth of our community”, expressed Renee Jones, president of the HCAC Board of Directors.

Julian Arcila, HCAC Executive Director, says that “the involvement of the NCIMED to our Board of Directors is a great opportunity for our organization.  We will learn from one of the most reputable non-profit organizations in the state. Ms. Andrea Harris is an advocate for minority communities and businesses and her experience and knowledge will benefit the advancement of our organization”.
