Charlotte / Raleigh, 2012. The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) confirmed a repeat of the Safety, Construction & Labor fair for the Hispanic community in the Triangle area. The event will be held on April 28, from 12-5pm at Villa Latina and is free of charge for the entire community.  "We are very excited to bring this event back to Raleigh.  In 2011, the fair enabled us to fulfil our objective of educating more Hispanics on occupational safety and construction.  Our goal is continue to improve and bring more benefits to our community.  We hope to train even more people this year", said Julian Arcila, Executive Director of HCAC.

In 2011, nearly 100 Hispanics attended classes on topics like fall protection, safe use of scaffolding and introduction to OSHA 10 and 30 hour certifications during the fair. In addition, Hispanics entrepreneurs learned more about management, new technology available in the construction industry and how to get certified as a minority owned business with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).  In 2012, the HCAC plans to offer many of these important topics again during the Raleigh event.

"Many of the same educational topics will be offered again, as we strive to meet the immediate needs of the population.  This year we will add two critical topics: protection against electrical hazards on the jobsite and business etiquette.  With these additional courses, we are providing new tools to help the community build their professional skills.”, HCAC President Renee Jones commented.

The 2012 Safety, Construction and Labor Fair will be held in Villa Latina, a shopping center well recognized for International Foods supermarket.  The address of Villa Latina is 421 Chapanoke Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.  In addition to the upcoming fair, HCAC strategic plans include several visits to key sites in Raleigh to promote the April 28 event, as well as the other activities in the area.

"We have high expectations for this year. We received strong support from Villa Latina for this family-oriented event.  In addition to raffles, gifts, and product demonstrations, we have many fun activities planned for adults and children”, HCAC Executive Director added.
