Class in HuntersvilleCharlotte/September, 2011. The Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) offered an OSHA 10 training for its members and trained 13 Hispanic contractors who are now capable of identifying Safety Hazards in their jobsites. The program was held on September 24 and 25 at the Irwin University headquarters, located in Huntersville, NC and was sponsored by Irwin Tools, manufacturer of tools for the construction industry, among others.

Further than being simply a safety training, the activity was important because it represents that public and private actors are joining efforts with the HCAC to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities in the jobsite. "Now more than ever it is important for us to see that we're not alone in our efforts to train our community. Our objective is to train as many Hispanic construction/workers as possible. We don't want to know that even a single family is suffering the consequences of having one of its members injured or dead in any work-related accident", said Julian Arcila, HCAC Executive Director.

The HCAC will conduct new Safety Trainings developed for the Hispanic community in the Carolinas. Some of these programs include Fall Protection trainings, OSHA 10 H and OSHA 30 H Tracks. In addition to Safety, HCAC offers educational series in Construction Practices and Management for the Hispanics in Construction.
